Charles G. Cox, age 83, of San Antonio, died Monday, June 14, 2004. Mr. Cox graduated with a Bachelor in Business at Trinity University. He was a combat Veteran and flew as a bombardier and instructor pilot in World War II. He worked as a contract negotiator at Kelly AFB until his retirement in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie Cox; daughters, April Groos and husband, Edward, Garnett Wietbrock and husband, Doug; son, Thomas Cox and wife, Helen all of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Jessie Murray Baskett and husband, Keath of Lovington, N.M.; grandchildren, Jessie, Lela and Sarah Baskett and Carrie Wietbrock; sister, Frances Tanner and brother-in-law, Paul Walthall, both of San Antonio, TX. Note: Final Rites for Mrs. Lichey, 87, Held Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Christina Lichey, 87,of New Bielau were held Saturday afternoon, April 9, at Hubbard Funeral Home, with burial in the New Bielau Cemetery. Rev. Frank Horak officiated. Mrs. Lichey died Thursday, April 7, at Colonial Rest Home in Schulenburg, after a lengthy illness. Except for the past three years, when she lived at the rest home she was a lifelong resident of New Bielau. Born there July 4, 1878, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Dahse. She was married to August Lichey on Jan. 18, 1898, and they settled on a farm in that community. Mr. Lichey died Nov. 18, 1926. Seven of her eight children survive her, a son Rudolph Lichey, having died three years ago. The survivors are two sons, Robert of Glidden and Ernest of New Bielau; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Selma) Menke of Cat Spring; Mrs. Eddie (Hertha) Teichmann of Schulenburg; Mrs. Oliver (Helen) Wegenhoft of Columbus; Mrs. Joe L. (Elsie) Pavlik and Mrs. A. R. (Erna) Dunn, both of Weimar; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Ida Emken, a brother William Dahse, and a stepbrother, August Dahse, also survive. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Gene and Roy Menke, Travis and Kenneth Wegenhoft, Franklin Teichmann, and Robert Wayne Dunn. [Weimar Mercury, Thursday, April 14, 1966]
