Note: Julius Gebhardt Taken To Hospital

Julius Gebhardt, local cotton buyer, whose health has gradually failed during the past year, was taken to the La Grange Hospital by the Koenig Funeral Home ambulance, Wednesday morning. Mr. Gebhardt attended the St. Paul Lutheran church celebration Sunday, but was forced to return early to his home on account of his weakened condition. Julius Gebhardt

Julius Gebhardt, aged 63 years, 11 months, and 10 days, died Monday, December 12; Mr. Gebhardt had been failing health for the past three months. Funeral services were held at the Koenig Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Rev. R. Heise officiating; interment was made in the new cemetery, Koenig Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Gebhardt, born in Germany, January 2, 1875, immigrated to America in 1900 and settled in New York, remaining in that city for several years. He came to La Grange in 1914, and became associated with a leading cotton exporting firm. He was a member of the Lutheran church and also a member of Bismark Lodge, No. 8, O.D.H.S. In the year 1920 he was united in marriage with Miss Hedwig Koehler at La Grange, and to them was born two children, Katherine and Theodore who, with the widow survive. He is also survived by two brothers, Theo. and Ernst Gebhardt in Germany. Mr. Gebhardt was a good citizen, ever encouraging high ideals, and was a close student of world news. His extensive travel, both in Germany and other foreign countries, and in the United States, enabled him to discuss such with ease, and his knowledge of the financial world made it possible for him to converse with force and intelligence on such matters. Joe Gideon, Jr., 57, of Beaumont died Monday, November 5, 2001. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 9, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church under the direction of Broussard's on McFaddin in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, November 8, at the mortuary. A native of Pensacola, Florida, he lived in Beaumont since 1975 and was president of Gideon Distributing, Inc. and a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Gideon of Beaumont; daughters, Michelle Gideon Dubnansky of Waypahu, Hawaii and Gretchen Gideon of Houston; son, Trey Gideon of Beaumont; parents, George and Margaret Gideon of Houston; brothers, Bill Gideon of Houston and Jim Gideon of Austin; and sister Charlene Gideon of Houston. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 680 Calder, Beaumont, Texas 77702 and American Heart Association, Beaumont Division, P.O. Box 7015, Beaumont, Texas 77726-7015.
