Private funeral services were held for Martin C. Giesecke on March 27th. Mrs. [Mr.] Giesecke was an aviator in the First World War and served as a Colonel in the Airforce in the Second World War. Funeral Services Are Held Sunday For Mrs. Hurst
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Belle Hurst, 88, at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with burial in the Cedarvale Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest F. Deutsch officiated, reading from the family Bible.
Mrs. Hurst died Friday night. She had lived here since 1941. As a child, she had recalled the Yankees bombarding her home town of Florence in Alabama during the Civil War. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. M.D. Huebner, Mrs. Taylor Huebner, and Miss Jessie Mae Hurst, all of Bay City; a son, B.J. Hurst of Bay City; a sister, Mrs. Lulu Miller of Pittsburg, Pa.

Note: He was a commissioned officer in Company K, 7th Alabama Infantry.
Walter entered the service of the State of Alabama on the 6th of
April, 1861 as Sargeant. He was captured on November 25, 1864 near
Florence, Alabama; and was sent to Rock Island Prison. He was paroled
about April 11, 1965.
Mr. Walter Glenn died Thursday night of an organic affection of the
heart, from which he had suffered, for some time past. He was about
60 years old, and a native of Kentucky, but had lived here since he
was a small child. He was a man of kind heart and good impulses. He
was formerly Deputy Sheriff of our county.
