Note: MRS. ELLA SCHMITT DIES IN SUGARLAND
Mrs. Ella Christina Munke Schmitt died Wednesday in a Sugarland hospital. She had reached the age of 83 years, 11 months, and nine days. Mrs. Schmitt, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Albrecht Munke, was born on October 27, 1881 at Ammansville. She was married to George Schmitt in 1919 and had made her home Freyburg most of her life except for the last 10 months when she lived with her daughter in Stafford. Her husband passed away in October 1930. Funeral Services have been tentatively set for Friday afternoon and burial will be in the Williams Creek cemetery. Other arrangements will be announced by Koenig Funeral Home. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Paul Stichler and Miss Esther Schmitt of Stafford and Mrs. Albert Kneibel of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Oeding of La Grange, and seven grandchildren. Gone to His Reward
Joseph J. Munke, aged 77 years, 11 months and 9 days, died at his home at Ammannsville on Friday, August 29th. Mr. Munke was born at Ross Prairie on September 20, 1852. In 1876 he was married to Miss Mary Albrecht. At various times deceased was engaged in blacksmithing, butchering, and he also owned and operated a gin for about twenty-five years. Funeral services were held at the family residence Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Dodzuweit officiating with burial in Williams Creek Cemetery. Mr. Munke is survived by his wife and five children, two sons having preceded him to the grave in infancy. The children are: Mrs. William Lueders of Bluff, F. C. Munke of Schulenburg, Mrs. George Schmitt of Newport, Washington, Mrs. Paul Oeding of Freyburg and Mrs. Jake Dick Padroni, Colorado. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Note: FUNERAL FOR MRS. OEDING HERE SUNDAY
Mrs. Margaret Oeding, retired nurse of La Grange, passed away at Fayette Memorial Hospital Friday. She was 81. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Koenig Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Arlyn J. Hausmann officiating, and burial was in the Black Jack Cemetery. Mrs. Oeding was born at Ammansville on January 18, 1890, daughter of Joseph and Marie Albrecht Munke, and was united in marriage with Paul Edwin Oeding at Ammansville on January 10, 1910. Her husband preceded Mrs. Oeding in death in 1938, as did her son Felix Oeding and youngest daughter, Mae Oeding Carby. Mrs. Oeding was employed as a nurse at Fayette Memorial Hospital here for more than 20 years before retiring. Surviving her are her daughter, Mrs. John (Elva) Oeding Koenig of Black Jack Springs, a son, Archie Oeding of Freyburg, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was a homemaker and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Survivors: daughters, Mary Ann Matthews of Bay City, Peggy Blauser of Colleyville, Patsy Huebner of Bay City and Jo Lynn Williams of Philadelphia, Ms; brother, Dr. Joe Murray of New London, Conn.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by husband, Joe Entzminger. Services were 10 a.m. Wednesday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. A graveside service for Mary Elizabeth Nichols Huebner, 90, of Long Beach, Calif., was held Jan. 24 at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach. She was the wife of native Matagorda County resident and retired U.S. Naval officer Otto Huebner. Mrs. Huebner was born Nov. 4, 1900, to Mary Elizabeth Vinet Nichols and John Anderson Nichols in New Orleans, La., and died Jan. 21, 1990 in her home after and extended illness. She met and married Otto Huebner while he served at the U.S. Naval base in Algiers, La. They lived a number of years in foreign service with the Navy, and upon their retirement, they made their home in Long Beach. She served for many years as a volunteer at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital and was honored with an award for her years of distinguished service. She was a member of the Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Long Beach and was preceded in death by her husband in 1971. [Matagorda County Newspaper, ca January 1990]
