O'Roark, Gordon LeRoy (b. 24 APR 1913, d. 13 JUN 1996)

Gordon Leroy �Jerry�, of Dallas, left his loving family to be with God on June 13, 1996. He was born April 24, 1913 in New Market, Virginia and in 1941, he joined the Merchant Marines, later he moved to Texas to serve in the U.S. Army Air Force A.B. Squadron at Ellington AFB during WWII. He spent his professional career as an agent for Kansas City Life Insurance Company and then as an employee of the U. S. Postal Service for 27 years until his retirement in 1977. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Branson and Sadie Virginia O�Roark; four brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julia �Judy�; four sons, Barry O�Roark and wife, Charlene of Manvel, Texas, Robin O�Roark and wife Sheree of Dallas, Ethan O�Roark of Dallas, Shannon O�Roark and wife Darla of Austin; three daughters, Diane Yates and husband Everette of Dallas, Celeste Bird and husband Robert of Mesquite, and Laurie O�Roark of Houston; and ten grandchildren. Services 6:30 P.M. Sunday, SPARKMAN-CRANE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. Graveside services and interment 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 17, 1996, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rowlett, TX. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Warnken, 96, longtime resident of the Freyburg community, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, from the Freyburg United Methodist Church with Rev. G. Douglas Beasley officiating. Pallbearers were Glen, Kervin and Maynard Warnken, all grandsons; and Herbert Warnken, Bennie Niesner and Alfred Ohnheiser, all nephews. Mrs. Warnken passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Youens Memorial Hospital, Weimar. She had been ill for two years. She was born Nov. 5, 1882, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ohnheiser at Dobischwald, Austria, and came to this country in 1889. On Nov. 14, 1905, she married Willie F. Warnken at High Hill and they settled at Freyburg. Mrs. Warnken was a member of the Freyburg Methodist Church and served for more than 20 years as president of the Women�s Society for Christian Service. Survivors include two sons, Alvin and Wallace Warnken, both of Schulenburg, and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. [The Schulenburg Sticker, Thursday, January 25, 1979]

Emmie Olle Vogt
Emmie Olle Vogt passed away suddenly on Saturday, Jan. 18 in Klein at the age of 97 years, 6 months, 7 days. She was born on July 11, 1899 in Freyburg to Agnes Carolina (Wotipka) and Otto Herman Olle. Her early life was spent in Flatonia and at the Olle Hotel, which was owned and operated by her parents. She attended Flatonia High School and graduated from the Tyler Commercial College in March 1918. Later, she worked in La Grange for Alexander Wholesale Groceries. On June 21, 1936 at the Olle Hotel, she married Robert Charles Vogt. She and her husband lived in Schulenburg for many years (51 years at Route 2) and she worked for Deterling & Son Insurance Agency. She lived at Schulenburg Regency Villas for several years and then briefly at College Place. Afterward, she resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Klein. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Schulenburg, Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary McBride Unit 143, Herman Sons Lodge 14, Lyons Lodge 195 AF & AM, Woodmen of the World, Eastern Star, and many other organizations over the years. She enjoyed Bridge, dominoes and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edwin Olle and Alfred Olle; and her husband, Robert, on Dec. 23, 1988. She is survived by two sons and their families, James and Linda Vogt of Klein, and Gene and Eileen Vogt of San Antonio. Her grandchildren include Duane and Barbara Vogt, Terrance and Randa Vogt, Robert T. Vogt, John C. Vogt, Ryan E. Vogt, Lee Darren and Tommie Bruderer, Bart and Stephanie Bruderer, Miranda K. Bruderer, and Dana and Rick Rosenthal. Great-grandchildren include Allison Vogt, Tracie Ring, Blake Bruderer, Ryan Bruderer, Ashley Bruderer, Dustin Derryberry and Kelsey Rosenthal. Services were held at St. Paul�s United Church of Christ in Schulenburg, 712 Summit St., on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m., under the direction of the Rev. Juanice Tomlinson. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Flatonia. Pallbearers were Terrance Vogt, Duane Vogt, Robert Vogt, John Vogt, Ryan Vogt and Mike Olle. Eulogies were given by Lee Bruderer, Duane Vogt and Robert Vogt. Music was provided by Kari Ginn and organist Mrs. A. Henderson. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
