Local relatives were advised last Saturday that Mrs. Rud. Nollkaemper had died at the family home at Hallettsville. Deceased was 69 years, 11 months and 9 days old; her two brothers, August and Henry Roitsch reside here. Mrs. Nollkaemper, whose maiden name was Emma Roitsch, was born in Frelsburg, Colorado County, March 14, 1865; and when a girl, the family removed to Fayette County. She received the rites of baptism, Lutheran faith, and the rites of confirmation in the Lutheran Church of Black Jack, Rev. Jessel Officiating. The Hallettsville New Era, furnishes the additional information, in its issue of Tuesday: In 1887 Miss Emma Roitsch was married to Rudolf Nollkaemper, they removed on a farm near Shiner to reside and 18 years ago removed into town where they continued to live. Besides the husband the following children are left to mourn her loss: Ernest Nollkaemper of Amarillo, Mrs. Rosa (Chas.) Othold, Arthur Nollkaemper and Mrs. Gus. Koether of Shiner, also nine grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lena Niemeyer of Freyburg. Funeral Services were conducted from the family home Monday afternoon, and 2:00 o�clock, then to the United Dr. Martin Luther Church where Rev. W. C. Wolfsdorf conducted funeral rites, with interment in the City Cemetery. Her last resting place was a mound of beautiful flowers. [The La Grange Journal, Thursday, February 27, 1936]

Gayle L. Roofe, Sr.
Gayle L. Roofe Sr., 68, of 1210 Garden Lane in Bryan died Thursday in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan, with the Rev. Bill Oxley of St. Thomas Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery. Roofe was born in Augusta, Kan., and had lived in Brazos County for 19 years. He retired in 1965 from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant after 24 � years service. Roofe served during World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. Roofe was then employed by the Texas A&M University Physical Plant for 19 years, until he retired in 1981. Survivors include his wife, Ramona Roofe of Bryan; and a son, Gayle Roofe of Dousman, Wis.; a daughter, Pam Hoy of San Jose, Calif., two brothers, Merlin C. Dailey of Victor, N.Y. and Andy Courtin of Houston; a grandson, Richard Warren Roofe of Dousman, Wis.; and his mother, Eunice T. Roofe of Houston. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to a chosen charity.

Memorial services for Frances Nell Harmon, 68, of 610 S. College were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Sergeant Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Newton Cox officiated. Mrs. Harmon passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, at her residence. Born in Eden Nov. 12, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Nellie (Greebon) Rudder. She was united in marriage with William G. �Fuzz� Harmon on April 16, 1949 in Odessa. Formerly of Casper, Wyoming, she resided in La Grange since 1981. Surviving are three daughters, Carole Fulghum and Julie Snow of Aurora, Colorado, and Billie Traver of Idaho City, Idaho; two sisters, Bessie Bownds of Odessa and Emma Barnard of Clyde; one brother, Earl Rudder of Alpine; her mother-in-law, Julie Michalke of Schulenburg; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband.
