Note: About 1882, Marcus D. Taylor went to Luna, New Mexico and entered the cattle business with J. R. Bishop and the Sperling Brothers. In 1892, he drove his cattle to market in Kansas City, Kansas and sold them. In 1892, he came to Texas and ran the commisary and kept the books on the Taylor Plantation near Pledger in Wharton County. Zack Taylor was the labor manager and part farmer. Toliver ("Bud") Taylor and Tyre Taylor were the owners. The plantation was divided about 1902 - Tol taking the South half and Tyre the North half - when the two brothers fell out over the election of the county sheriff.

Note: DEATH OF MR. ERNST TELL
Prominent Weimar Citizen Passes Away After Short Illness
Our people were greatly shocked early Friday morning to learn of the sudden death of Ernst Tell, a well known citizen of this place. Mr. Tell had not been in robust health for some time, but up to Wednesday had managed to keep up. Feeling badly that day he remained at home, taking medicine. The following day, not feeling any better, he still remained there. About 1:30 Friday morning he endeavored to get up from his bed, when he fell to the floor. Help was summoned, also a physician, and he was given every attention, but a few moments later, without a struggle, he passed into the Great Beyond. The funeral took place at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Friday afternoon at 4 oclock, a large crowd attending same. Mr. Tell had been a citizen of this community for many years. He was a genial, kindhearted man, with a pleasant word for everyone he met, always thoughtful of those about him, and possessed a large circle of friends. A widow, son, Fritz, and brother, Mr. Wm. Tell survive, and to them the heartfelt sympathy of all our people is extended. [Weimar Mercury, Friday, March 8, 1918]
