Elliotts, Tex. Seb. 17th/ 88
Dear Louise-
Your so much valued letter, of the 4th inst. at hand from wich I notice that you will give me time until October to put in my appearance. I shal try and be up during that month, although I shall be greatly temted to have the lumber for our house about that time, if the roads are good.
I shall be glad to know your plans for building. It is not my object to build a large house, but one to wich I can make such addition as may be necessary hereafter.
I hope you may not be suffering from a bonefelon, but are well and happy for you certainly deserve to be so.
It is highly probable that we will not make more than 6 bales of cotton, because we had all new land and it will not produce well the first year.
I expect to make 25 next year, but we shall see about that later on. We have favorable weather for picking cotton and I hope you may hav the same by this time.
I hav earned $50.00 in the last two weeks by cutting hay for some of the neighbors and will stay at it a few weeks longer.
We are both in fine health.
The grass in the pasture is very fine and the cattle are in splendid condition. Many thanks for writing utensils, they come in very handy and it always is very pleasant for me to see or receive anything that reminds me of you.
You can tell George that if he wants to loan out his money at 10 percent, we will be glad to take it at that rate and will secure him by giving a mortgage on 100 beaves wich are worth about $ 1,000, we will take it for one or two years to suit George.
I am glad to hear that some of the boys will (be) down this fall.
I could not write in day time, now it late and all our guests have departed so I have taken this chance to write you.
Just a line with my love
Your Franz
