Marriage of Knigge, George William (b. 18 JAN 1890, d. 18 APR 1947) and Amberg, Elsie Marie (b. 20 SEP 1891, d. 17 FEB 1982)
Note: Knigge - Amberg

There was a pretty little home wedding last evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Otto L. Amberg, when their daughter, Miss Else Marie, became the bride of Mr. George Knigge, a La Grange boy, but now of Galveston. None but relatives of the immediate families were present, and the ceremony, performed by the Rev. Heise of the Lutheran church, was all the more impressive for its simplicity. The Journal joins their many friends in sincere congratulations and good wishes for their future. The newly married couple left last evening on the Katy flyer, and will be at home in Galveston after the 25th. [The La Grange Journal, Thursday, September 19, 1912]

Marriage of Vogt, Ernst Rudolph (b. 15 OCT 1859, d. 25 FEB 1940) and Nollkamper, Anna Marie (b. 09 JUL 1861, d. 01 AUG 1961)

Cedar, December 10th, 1883.

Married On the 6th day of December, 1883, at the residence of the brides father, Mr. Rudolph Vogt to Miss Annie Nolkamper, Judge J. C. Stiehl officiating. Over two hundred invited guests were present to witness the ceremony which was conducted in a very impressive manner. The bride and groom were the recipients of over one hundred presents, a list of which would be too extensive for our limited space, suffice it to say, that they were substantial and designed more for practical use than for ostentation. At the conclusion of the ceremony the guests partook of a sumptuous repast gotten up in a style that reflects great credit on the ladies that managed the culinary department. The table was set under a large tent erected for the purpose, and seated twenty-six couples; it was completely loaded with choice viauds calculated to temp the appetite of the most fastidious epicure. The OQuin brass band together with a juvenile chorus led by Prof. Wachman, discoursed sweet vocal and instrumental music which added much to the enjoyment of the occasion.

While Bacchus danced attendance upon the thirsty throng,
And wine, and beer, in plenty flowed, all day long;
Morpheus, the sleepy god, then felt his powers wane,
When the muses joined the Bacchanalian ranks and mirth and pleasure reigned.

In the evening the desks, seats, &c., of a large school house adjoining the premises were removed and thither marched the young people preceded by the brass band where they tripped the "light fantastic toe until the wee sma hours and in fact some few continued the hilarity until the next day noon, the old folks remained at the house and enjoyed themselves as best suited their inclinations. Considering the numbers present it was one of the most peaceable and orderly assemblies we ever attended and taking it all in all it was one of the most enjoyable affairs that has taken place in this community for many years and will be long remembered by old and young. Dean George Rodgers Wood read the marriage lines in the presence of members of the families and a small group of their friends. The church was adorned with white chrysanthemums, the altar vases being filled with the blossoms. Carl Weisemann played a group of selections prior to the ceremony and also played the wedding marches. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Sarah Jane Connor Is Bride of Frederick Carl Groos Jr.

A prominent marriage took place Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at St. Matthews Cathedral. Prominent because the principals, Miss Sarah Jane Connor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed C. Connor, 3901 Shenandoah, and Frederick Carl Groos Jr., Fort Worth, son of Mrs. Florence Groos, San Antonio, are well known in the younger social crowd. Dean George Rodgers Wood officiated before and altar decorated with white chrysanthemums and illuminated with white tapers. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a model suit of boy-blue wool trimmed with blue fox. Her accessories were blue and her flowers were orchids. Her only attendant, Miss Jane Cleaver, chose a frock of Dubonnet shot with gold thread and a colonial bouquet of roses and blue blossoms. Clarkson Groos attended his brother as best man and the ushers were Gus J. Groos, Jr., San Antonio, and Edward C. Connor Jr., the brother of the bride. The wedding music was played by Carl Wiesermann, organist. The service was attended by members of the family and close friends of the couple and the reception, which followed immediately at the Connor home, was for the two families. After this Mr. and Mrs. Groos left on a wedding trip to Monterrey, Mexico. Upon their return they will be at home at 3235 Odessa in Fort Worth. Mrs. Groos attended the Highland Park High School and the University of Texas, where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma. Her husband is a graduate of the same university and a member of Sigma Nu.
