Note: Golden Anniversary
Tuesday the farm home of Henry Nollkamper Jr., three miles west of La Grange, was the scene of a very happy gathering of children, grandchildren and relatives who had come to the old home for the purpose of assisting these good people in celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding day, to enjoy with them an event that few are privileged to have, and the gathering was indeed a merry one. In attendance upon the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pape and children of Bridge Valley near La Grange, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chalk of Flatonia, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foltermann, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Warnken, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Giesecke of and near La Grange, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Luerssen of Westhoff. Rev. and Mrs. R. Heise and a few friends were also present. With a dinner at the noon hour, and everything good to eat, the happy occasion was ushered in, and during the afternoon all enjoyed the day. Rev. Heise made an appropriate and very interesting address to the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Nollkamper were born in Germany but came to America and made Fayette County their home. They were united in marriage at the old home in OQuinn, July 11th., 1872, Rev. Christ. Rudi, founder of the Philadelphia Lutheran community at Swiss Alp, performing the ceremony. Six and the seven daughters born to them, as mentioned in the list, are still living. With their husbands and children they came to the old home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Nollkamper first resided at Cedar, and in 1884 purchased the farm upon which they at present reside. Twenty-six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren complete the large family. Mr. Nollkampers father is still living and in fair health. La Grange Journal. [Flatonia Argus, Thursday, July 20, 1922]
